About the project

Why was this site created?

Soroban – learn to count is a free educational tool for understanding numbers, addition and subtraction by moving beads yourself.

What does the site offer?

A six-rod interactive soroban, place-value lessons, simple explanations of complements to 5 and 10, and an exercise generator for setting numbers, reading numbers, adding and subtracting.

Who is it for?

The content is designed mainly for children learning basic arithmetic and for parents and carers. No child account is required.

How are exercises designed?

Learners can try, correct mistakes and request hints. There is no compulsory time limit or public leaderboard.

Advertising

The site contains a Google AdSense integration. Because the content is directed to children, age-appropriate ad treatment must be enabled and personalized advertising/remarketing must not be used for child-directed traffic. Ads should remain visually separate from learning controls.
