Ninefold Tactics — how to play

Noughts and crosses on nine connected boards. Your move chooses your opponent’s next board — plan both small and large victories.

Objective

Line up three won small boards in a row (row, column or diagonal of the large board).

Rules and controls

• The board is 9 small 3×3 grids, each running its own game of noughts and crosses.
• The cell you play assigns the opponent’s small board: cell number 0–8 maps onto the board number.
• If the assigned board is won or full, the opponent plays anywhere — highlighted boards show the options.
• Three drawn boards in a line draws the match, and so does running out of legal moves.

Practical tips

• Watch not only your own three-in-a-row but also which board you hand to your rival.
• The „first move only in the centre board” option gives the narrower, commoner variant.
