Apex Afterburn — how to play
Racing for two local players or up to 24 online.
Objective
Cover the chosen number of laps (1–20) and cross the line first.
Rules and controls
- Driver 1: W A S D, Space handbrake, hold R for 1.5 s to call the tow. Driver 2: arrows, Enter handbrake, right Shift tow.
- A full lap means seven checkpoints and the finish line — the next gate is marked on the track.
- Crashes into cars and barriers damage the car and lower its performance.
- The start sits on the flattest stretch and the pit alley runs parallel to the grid — sometimes outside, sometimes in the infield. Brake and lift off the throttle in a box to refuel and repair.
- A pit lap costs nothing: the finish line stands on the alley axis, and the next gate waits for you back on the racing lane.
Practical tips
- Brake before the corner and use the handbrake only for a gentle slide — the verge slows the car to 10% of top speed.
- Out of fuel or stuck, the tow (8 s) returns the car to the pit; checkpoints you already passed stay claimed.
